¿Qué es la cianosis y cuándo debes preocuparte?
La cianosis es esa tonalidad azulada o morada que aparece en la piel, las uñas o los labios, como si te hubieras disfrazado de Pitufo sin darte cuenta. Este fenómeno ocurre cuando la sangre no tiene suficiente oxígeno, lo que técnicamente se conoce como hipoxemia. La falta de oxígeno hace que la hemoglobina cambie de color, y voilà, ahí tienes tu nuevo look azulado. Pero ojo, no es un accesorio que quieras lucir, porque puede ser señal de que algo no anda bien en tu cuerpo.
¿Cuándo deberías preocuparte? Si notas que la cianosis aparece de repente, especialmente en los labios, las uñas o la piel, y va acompañada de dificultad para respirar, mareos o dolor en el pecho, es momento de actuar. Podría tratarse de un problema cardíaco, pulmonar o incluso una obstrucción en las vías respiratorias. En los bebés, la cianosis en las manos o los pies puede ser común, pero si se extiende a otras zonas o persiste, es mejor consultar al médico. No es algo que puedas resolver con un filtro de Instagram.
¿Qué hacer si sospechas de cianosis?
Primero, mantén la calma, pero no tanto como para ignorarlo. Si la cianosis aparece junto con síntomas graves, como dificultad para respirar o desmayos, busca atención médica de inmediato. En casos menos urgentes, pero persistentes, programa una cita con tu médico para descartar problemas subyacentes. Recuerda, la cianosis no es un diagnóstico en sí misma, sino un síntoma que grita: «¡Hey, algo no está bien aquí!».
