Can standing still without looking into the eyes of dogs avoid bites if encountering a hostile dog or a dog pack? And what esle?
I know shooting is the best idea. Unfortunately, guns are not allowed here in China. So what else can we do if getting into that kind of trouble?
we have lots of strays here and there.And there is a parking lot where there are some loose big dogs.Occasionally when we pass with our two dogs, they appear as a pack of there or four to warn us to go away. It is quite imtimidatory!
You’re kind of in a bad situation if you encounter a hostile pack (No duh, right?) if you run they’ll chase. That’s their nature, if you stand still they might still attack because you’re on their territory. If you submit, they’ll think you’re weak and they’ll attack.
I don’t know if I should give advice on the situation because I’ve never BEEN in the situation, but when I was a kid they told us if you encounter a vicious dog you should avoid eye contact and back away slowly (don’t turn away from them though.). Don’t open your mouth or show your teeth even to smile and don’t talk. try to go around a corner or get near other people — dogs try to seperate their prey from it’s herd generally.
